JUDE FIVE MONTHS

March 11th
15 pounds

Jude turned five months on March 11.  This past month he has been so playful and fun.  He's learned where his feet are and loves to grab them.  When he grabs them he rolls to his side and I feel any day now he's going to be rolling from his back to his stomach.  His feet have kept him very entertained lately though and he even fell asleep the other night holding onto one of them!  Sweet boy!

He's been blowing bubbles and drooling everywhere.  And if these teeth don't break through soon I'm not sure what I'll do.  They've been right on the surface for weeks!  He's wanting to chew on everything...my finger, his toys, his feet, and he even leaned in and chewed on Nathan's bowl the other night at dinner!  He loves sitting on Daddy's lap during dinner.  He tends to chew on Nathan's fingers the whole time :)  Not long and he's going to be wanting to eat some of our food.  He already seems so interested in everything we're eating!

He's got the biggest smile and loves to laugh.  He loves it when Liam sits and talks with him.  Liam has decided it is his personal job to talk to and entertain Jude when he's standing in his little bouncy/seat thing (whatever it's called).  It actually is really very helpful because it keeps Jude happy, Liam busy, and I'm able to get the dishes washed.  It's a win/win situation :)  Ruy and Liam can not stand it when he cries and will try to do anything to keep him happy.  Liam will run to me and say "Mom Jude is crying! Pick him up!!"  I love how much the three other kids love him so much!

Almost all of his hair has fallen out and I'm wondering what color it's going be when it comes back in. He's very distracted when he nurses so that can be difficult.  He's taking two naps each day and sleeping from 7pm at night until 12pm-3am and then he gets in bed with me until 5:30am.  Then I put him back in his bed and I get up to workout and he sleeps till 7-8am.  I really am happy with his sleep schedule right now but I know babies are not predictable and it could change at any time.

Jude loves being outside.  He loves baths. He loves nursing.  He loves walks in the Ergo. He loves being tickled.  He loves his wolf stuffed animal and his soft books.  He loves his daddy and his brothers and sisters.  He loves giving and getting kisses.  He loves snuggles and cuddles.  He's my sweet, sweet boy and I just love every moment I get to be with him!

Happy Five Months Sweet Jude Man

ICED COFFEE {THM-FP OR S)

So lately I have been very close to just giving up on coffee altogether.  I have used the sugar free creamers or just regular creamer since starting Trim Healthy Mama but always felt so bad about it because I hate all the ingredients that are in it and it gives me a stomach ache.  I've tried my hardest to like the way hot coffee tastes with just half an half and sweetener or heavy cream and sweetener and I just have not been able to adjust.  But today, I was craving some iced coffee and wanted to make it healthy and on plan so I whipped up this iced coffee and it did not disappoint!

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee (I used decaf) (chill in the freezer for 10 minutes)
  • 1/2-1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp caramel extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp of THM Super Sweet Blend (or sweetener of choice)
  • 1 tsp of vanilla whey protein powder
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • Optional: You can add half and half or heavy whipping cream into it to make it an S.

Instructions:

Blend all of the ingredients together in a blender.  Fill a quart size mason jar (because everything tastes better in a mason jar right!) with ice then pour the coffee mixture over it.   You can add water or more almond milk/half & half/heavy cream to fill the rest of the way if needed.  You can top with Fat Free Reddi Whip (I did not in the picture below) and Enjoy!

*If you use the half & half or heavy cream, remember it makes this an S and not a FP.  I made mine with just the almond milk and it was delicious!  However, I'm going to try it with the heavy cream tomorrow just to see if it's even more delicious that way!

And that's it!  Super easy and super yummy!  This totally solved my problem of using those sugar free creamers to make my iced coffee.
