Alanna.Eight.Months

Eight Months
15 pounds, 14.4 ounces, 27 inches long

Oh my sweet baby girl...you are getting too big too quick.  In a two week period, you went from getting up onto your knees and falling forward onto your face...to crawling across the house in just a few seconds.  You learned how to sit up and how to pull up onto everything!  It's hard to get you to put yourself to sleep at nap time because you just stand up in your crib crying for me.  You don't know how to get back down once you have pulled up in your crib so you get very upset. With all this mobility, you have taken quite a few falls.  I hate seeing you get hurt but I know it is all a part of you growing and learning.  I feel you will be walking by ten months.

You had three more teeth come in this past month making you have a total of six teeth now.  You had such a hard time with cutting these teeth.  You slept terrible, cried A LOT at bed time, and got a cold and a fever.  You normally never cry, so the few weeks it took to cut these teeth was torture for me.  Seeing so many tears coming from your beautiful eyes, trying to calm you while you pushed away in frustration, it made me so sad.  I'm so glad they are in, and you are getting back to being happy all day again!

Your Nana bought you the prettiest little bracelet.  It looks so beautiful on you.  She spoils you terribly, but I'm not complaining.  Almost every dress you have is from her.  She likes buying beautiful things for you.

You started making the sounds "ma-ma" and "ba-ba".  I was surprised to hear you say "ma-ma" before ''da-da".  Neither of your brothers did that.  I know you are not calling for me yet, but soon you will realize that my name is "Mama."  I can't wait to hear you call for me for the first time.

I am still not really feeding you much food other than nursing.  You like sweet potatoes, ice cream, yogurt, and bananas. You only take about five bites though, and then you start crying to be done.  You nurse about 6 -8 times during the day.  And ever since we went to the beach back in May, you stopped sleeping 10-12 hours at night.  You usually wake up at 12 and 4 AM.  I don't put you in bed with me any more though.  You stopped falling asleep in bed next to me, so I just started rocking you and nursing you in the glider.  You usually nurse for about 20-30 minutes and fall asleep while nursing.  Then you get up around 6-7AM every day.  You nap twice a day for 2-3 hours each nap.  Your bed time is at 7:30PM.

You stopped sucking your thumb after our trip to Pennsylvania back in June.  I miss it.  I guess it's a good thing that I won't have to try to break you off it later on.  You still love your blanket though.  You love to hold it while you are nursing.  You rub it on your face and on your hands.  You don't fall asleep very well without it.  I have been trying to enjoy every moment of putting you to sleep at nap time and night time, because that is really the only time you like to snuggle, and before I know it you will be ONE and those moments will start to go away!

You still love Bunnies ears.  You like to chew on Liam's wood blocks, the cardboard books, and the waffle blocks.  You like to crawl around the house chewing on things, and trying to find new things to get in to.  You get stuck in the books shelves all the time, and have already pulled one of the kitchen chairs down on top of yourself!

You still have some of your sweet newborn smell.  I thought it would go away once you got teeth, but it seems to be staying and I am completely OK with that :)

You love your brothers but you get especially excited when you see Ruy.  He loves to make you smile and laugh.  Liam loves you so much too.  He always says "Mommy, Alanna's pretty!" He is a little more destructive with you though.  He tries to take toys from you, and the other day he dumped all the toys out of the Rubbermaid container, put you under it and sat on top so you were stuck inside.  He thought it was funny, but Daddy and I did not.  Needless to say...Liam can't be left alone with you :)

Daddy and I love you so much Sweet Pea.  We love your smile and the silly little face you make when you scrunch up your nose.  We love your soft blonde hair, and your big blue eyes.  We love your little ears, and your adorable turned up nose.  We love your laugh, and your incredible amount of energy!

Happy Eight Months Alanna Girl!
