Things have been kind of busy around here lately. I haven't had a lot of time for blogging. So this is a little update on what's been going on with us the past few weeks.
We went to Pennsylvania for my Dad's wedding reception. I took Liam and Alanna by myself. It is a 5 hour drive, but it took us 8. It was a REALLY long drive. We left on Friday and came back Sunday. Alanna cried most of the way there and back. It's safe to say I never want to make that kind of drive again without Nathan. My Dad's wedding reception was wonderful though, and I'm glad I went...even with the bad driving experience.

My Granny (My Dad's Mother) Isn't she GORGEOUS! |
Ruy finished up his baseball season. He won MVP this year! We were so proud of him.
Nathan got called into overtime on Father's Day this year. I think this is the third year he has worked on Father's Day. Liam doesn't really mind though because he loves getting to go see the fire truck :)
Despite all the mosquitoes, we have been enjoying lots of outdoor time. :)
This is Liam's new smile. I never tell my kids to say "cheese." It always makes kids look fake or angry when they say "cheese", so I just ask him to look at me. And this is the look he has been giving me lately. *Sigh* Someone make him stop growing up so fast.
Of course Ruy is wearing his army pants most days still :) Best $10 purchase I think we ever made. Thank you to my awesome hubby for randomly taking us out one night a few months ago, specifically to get them for Ruy. He's pretty amazing like that.
I finally convinced the boys that the sprinkler is awesome to play in. They both were whining about it until I made them get in...then they loved it :)
We got a little pool for the boys since it's so hot out. They love it!
Ruy is really missing playing baseball all the time now that the season has ended. So, the boys have been playing "catch" in the backyard a lot lately. Liam has decided he loves playing baseball, and wants to wear Ruy's old glove all the time. He also thinks wearing the mitt on his head is pretty cool. Nathan showed Ruy how to throw to Liam and now Ruy has been doing a great job of teaching Liam to catch. It's fun watching Ruy try to teach him. Liam got frustrated the other day because Ruy threw it wrong, and he missed the catch. So, Liam threw the baseball down and said "done!" And then came up the back stairs crying. It's hard being two sometimes.
We had S'mores after a long, hot day. The boys would eat a million marshmallows if we let them.
Alanna learned how to "pull up." It's been pretty interesting since that day. She has had a good amount of falls, causing lots of short crying spells...but she is super tough and keeps trying to pull up onto things. Her being so mobile at such a young age is keeping me pretty busy. :)
Liam discovered the watering can, and thinks it is awesome to water the sidewalk!
And then from Monday - Friday the week of June 24, Ruy had Vacation Bible School. I had to be out the door by 8:40 every morning!!! It made me have flashbacks to working full time, and having to drag Ruy out the door by 6:30 every morning to get him to the babysitters. I.do.not.miss.those.days.at.all!!!
It made for a long week for me but Ruy had a blast, so I was happy to do it. He made lots of new friends, learned some new songs, played fun games, and most importantly learned about Jesus. The theme of the week was Secret Agents which Ruy thought was awesome. He pretended he was an agent all week. We even had to make a secret agent badge for him out of foam. He's wearing it in this picture where he is fighting his bears.
And here he is on the last day of VBS at the ending ceremony singing one of the new songs he learned. Thank you to the mother who took this picture. I was sitting way in the back and wasn't able to get a good picture, so she let me have this one.
So things have been pretty busy since Summer break started, but it's been fun. I hope everyone's summer is going great so far as well!!!
